The optics on most of the 16s, both Starfinders and DSes, were usually
fair and occasionally somewhat better than that.

Why? Many Meade 16s are OK and they are cheap.

In contrast, Meade's 12.5-inch StarFinder optics ain't just OK, they
are often superb.
