If you're referring to scientific discoveries, an example would be
useful (especially a fairly modern one- that is, after consistent use of
scientific methodology was the norm).

Actually, I was referring to three important discoveries that result with an
acceptance of science from religious perspective:

- Science (the rational) quiets the mind.
- Metaphysics (the irrational) quiets the emotions.
- Compartmentalism quiets conflict.

I've been trying to come up with a quip like, "I give my mind to science,
but my heart to god."

Example:
If I were dying of cancer at a premature age (any age for that matter), I
would wrap my mind around the idea that humans can sustain my body through
science (for a time), and I'd wrap my emotions around the (however deluded)
idea that there is a force in the universe that will move on the hearts and
minds of others to love my family when I am gone.

Can science predict when and where love will appear?
