To wipe is to scratch. You will do more damage cleaning than the fungus has
done already. Life.

Also if fungus is so sticky and can stick into coating
without destroying or eating them. Why can't they
stick into aluminum?
If doesn't stick per say. It eats and displaces. Think of the lens coating
like a culture medium on a petri dish. It doesn't just grow on the surface, it
grows inside it.

That may not be true. I just read that fungus only
eats organic debris above the coating, they then
uses their tentacles to step on micro holes in
the coatings. If you can get them up, then you can
leave the coatings free of damage, unless they
have already defecated acid on the coatings

Also, I wonder if fungus can hibernate. I already
noticed the fungus in my lenses 3 years ago but
didn't think about cleaning it because I had lost
interest in astronomy.. but got interested again
now. So after 3 years, are the fungus still alive
since they haven't eaten in 3 years or is the
organic food in the lens enough to make
them survive thru the years? or did they just
hibernate?

They do stick to metal, they just don't eat metal.
