I don't understand why you say this. How does your
world differs from the photographers? It is written
in such sites...
They are talking about photographic conventions that have been used for
a long time. They aren't particularly accurate; the idea of a 50mm lens
approximating the FOV of the eye isn't particularly good, but
photographers understand what it means when they are comparing lenses.
It is a cumbersome and error prone way to consider telescope optics, and
there isn't the slightest reason to do so. Forget the idea of
magnification when you are imaging. All you should be worrying about is
resolution and field of view.
Actually, I'm interested in all this because I want more
powerful telephoto to be used in my nature photograpy
on earth at daytime. Therefore for this purpose, we
can say that your 3000mm focal length 12" SCT
is equivalent to 60X when comparing to stock 50mm
telephoto lens.
Now to tie it up to sky photography. When using the
image 60X image (taken with your 3000fl scope)
in my computer and zooming it, the magnification
can be greater. This is what astrophotographers
consider and do. They simply love to zoom to
see the pixels to arrive at the true resolution. Agree?
