I don't understand the point of your trying to visualize things this
way. Are you interested in the image formed by an aperture, or are you
interested in the simple Airy pattern you get when you illuminate the
aperture with a plane wave?
Also when you said an image formed geometrically
at infinity in complex wavefront. Are you speaking of the
image being formed from the shadows of the aperture like
in pinhole or as image formed with diffraction discs as in a
lens or objective based image system? .
It is largely pointless to try and consider images as formed from a
collection of diffraction discs. With a complex wavefront, there
probably are no diffraction "discs".
