Re: Rotational signatures

The point is, intuition is a poor guide to reality because there are
no checks and balances to intuition.

In science, when a view of reality is shown to be false--e.g.,
luminiferous aether and the Michelson-Morley experiment--science drops
that view like a bag of dirt.

Among the many things that most participants here have encountered
for the first time is where Isaac was getting his absolute/relative
space from by going illegal 'framehopping' with the resolution for
retrogrades -

"For to the earth planetary motions appear sometimes direct, sometimes
stationary, nay, and sometimes retrograde. But from the sun they are
always seen direct,..." Newton

Then we have Albert coming in with all guns blazing -

"In order to be able to look upon the rotation of the system, at least
formally, as something real, Newton objectivises space. Since he
classes his absolute space together with real things, for him rotation
relative to an absolute space is also something real. Newton might no
less well have called his absolute space ``Ether'';" Albert 1920

For an astronomer this is really funny situation because Isaac
thoughts on 'aether' are well known -

"The fictitious matter which is imagined as filling the whole of space
is of no use for explaining the phenomena of Nature, since the motions
of the planets and comets are better explained without it, by means of
gravity; and it has never yet been explained how this matter accounts
for gravity. The only thing which matter of this sort could do, would
be to interfere with and slow down the motions of those large
celestial bodies, and weaken the order of Nature; and in the
microscopic pores of bodies, it would put a stop to the vibrations of
their parts which their heat and all their active force consists in.
Further, since matter of this sort is not only completely useless, but
would actually interfere with the operations of Nature, and
weaken them, there is no solid reason why we should believe in any
such matter at all. Consequently, it is to be utterly rejected."
Isaac, Opticks 1704

So,the retrograde resolution of the motion of the Earth through space
and seen using modern time lapse footage helps dynamicists understand
where Newton was coming from by inventing a hypothetical 'absolute
space' based on an observer on the Sun,this is what is meant by
applying intuitive intelligence to untangle the mutations -

Future generations looking back at our era will see great
technological innovation yet a race who found itself stagnating in
matters of exploration and stuck in a rut of pollution concerns and
astrologically infected ideas of the Universe. The guys in the early
part of the last century had a ball by removing the last traces of
geometry from astronomy ,or so they thought, but effectively they are
still left with an astrological framework which exists at the core of
Newton's work, which in he turn inherited from Flamsteed.

If the 'BB' theory looks uncomfortably familiar as 'every-valid-pont-
is-the-center' then it is for a very good reason -

This is no taunt, there were genuine and brilliant men who sought a way
out but could not while others can go along with just about
anything. There is no such thing as a person not having intuitive
intelligence but there is an undeveloped intuitive faculty which
sometimes is a byword for wisdom, something that grows in tandem with
intelligence.
