   No! The earth rotates
     1° in 239.34 seconds = 3.9890 minutes = 3 minutes 59.34 seconds,
taking 23 hours, 56 minutes, and 4.09 seconds to rotate 360°,
     verifiable by observation!
You went to all that trouble to divide 23 hours 56 minutes 04 seconds
by 360 degrees when it is easier just to go to the tables and equate
time with geographical separation at 15 degrees per hour and 4 minutes
per degree -
Easier does not equate to correct.

The Earth rotates 1° in 239.34 seconds or 3 minutes 59.34 seconds,
taking 23 hours, 56 minutes, and 4.09 seconds to rotate 360°, which
is verifiable by observation!- Hide quoted text -

It is the reasoning behind the value, the utter disregard for the
original reference for daily rotation and from that point of departure
it is easy enough,with a little effort,to determine where the 24 hour/
360 degree value comes from and how this transfers to daily rotation
as a constant, not by observation but by a quirk of the process which
creates the average 24 hour day and keeps these days elapsing
seamlessly.

I am considered insane for believing the Earth turns once in 24 hours
even though it is almost impossible to imagine how people are going to
separate the correlation which links time with geographical separation
organised around the daily rotation characteristics that comprise
longitude.

Galileo did mention something of a problem that definitely infects
this era to such a degree that astronomy is effectively extinct as a
discipline -

"The same thing has struck me even more forcibly than you. I have
heard such things put forth as I should blush to repeat--not so much
to avoid discrediting their authors (whose names could always be
withheld) as to refrain from detracting so greatly from the honor of
the human race. In the long run my observations have convinced me that
some men, reasoning preposterously, first establish some conclusion In
their minds which, either because of its being their own or because
of their having received it from some person who has their entire
confidence, impresses them so deeply that one finds it impossible ever
to get it out of their heads. Such arguments in support of their fixed
idea as they hit upon themselves or hear set forth by others, no
matter how simple and stupid these may be, gain their instant
acceptance and applause. On the other hand whatever is brought forward
against it, however ingenious and conclusive, they receive with
disdain or with hot rage--if indeed it does not make them ill "
Galileo

I can't imagine a situation which can be considered worse as losing
the information of planetary shape and rotational characteristics has
no known precedent and nothing is the 23 hours 56 minute value can in
anyway express the degree of separation which are present in the
tables. It means Sam,you have to basically vandalise the correlation to
get your value to fly  but why bother when it is easier just to work
towards recovering the reasoning behind the 24 hour/360 degree value
and take our race away from the brink of intellectual oblivion.

Your mistake, Kelleher, is confusing the 360° markings on the globe
with 361° of rotation required to line up with the sun on successive
days. That's not mental illness, that is a lack of education and it
   can be mitigated.

You use a direct correlation between 360 degrees and the return of a
star which means you still have to account for the three way
correlation which links 1 degree with 4 minutes with the table of
values that are characteristic of a round and rotating Earth in terms
of 24 hours/360 degrees -

The line of reasoning which leads to the correct value based on the
raw distinction between natural noon and clock noon has no
relationship with any other celestial reference,it is just independent
daily rotation which can actually be seen if a world globe is turned
through a 360 degree circle -

At the Equator, the Earth turns 69.17 miles in 4 minutes and
diminishes to 0 at the geographical poles,it is supposed to be beyond
dispute but some malignant illness has descended to prevent normal
people from accepting the correlation or insisting on another line of
reasoning based on timekeeping averages.

I won't beg the question of how do you break the 3 way correlation of
4 minutes/1 degree/69.17 miles at the Equator because my business is
to find people who actually can understand the line of reasoning that
arrives at the correct value.
