Prices seem to have dropped on many items...except astro equipment.

Why not astro equipment?

Much of the mass marketed stuff is already being sold with thin profit
margins, so there's not much opportunity to go lower. The high end stuff
is mostly being bought by people with a good bit of discretionary money
to spend, and those people aren't being affected so much by the
recession. Also, I'd say that lowering prices probably wouldn't improve
sales much. This kind of equipment is already a luxury to most- if the
economy is poor, those who are hurting will pass on astronomical
equipment regardless of the cost, and those who are not hurting will buy
at any cost (within reason, of course!)

You make some good points.

But I also note that house prices have dropped on all homes.

Prices might not have dropped everywhere, but also might not have
appreciated as much as they should have.  If you don't need to sell
now, your home might regain value someday.

Most car sales only happen now when the prices drop.

Or when the govt redistributes tax money to benefit only those who
happen to own vehicles that get less than 18 mpg, that are worth <
$4500, are less than 25 years old,  have been owned, licensed and
insured for the past year, that are in running condition, and whose
owners who can get financing if needed and who are going to spend <
$45,000 on a new vehicle which meets MPG requirements, and if leased,
must be leased for at least 5 years, etc, etc.

Sorry, no help for people who already own high-MPG cars. After the
$billions$ are gone, it's back to BAU.  Obamanomics inaction.  You'd
have figured there would be a cheaper way to buy votes.

And computer sales...items with the slimmest of profit margins have
seen significantly lowered pricing.

Among our club members, the best guess is price fixing for why astro
prices haven't dropped....yet.

Which companies do you think are in collusion?

Most are waiting with money in their pockets for lower prices to come
in the future.

Unless the companies fold for lack of sales.  Then mirror-grinding
sees a resurgence, if you can still find suitable mirror blanks.

Pick your favorite astro equipment and show me how it has gotten
cheaper than a year ago.

Supply and demand is not working...nor are the old excuses.
