We all know who the loons are. Many of us have them killfilled, and
effectively would never see or hear from them again, save for those who
morph their IDs, in which they simple get killfilled again. So why keep
replying to them? It accomplishes nothing, save for giving the loonie
element attention. You cannot reason with the terminally insane. If people
here would quit engaging them, I'm certain that the level of discourse here
can be elevated.
Sorry, but that's a violation of nature -- _human_ nature. People are
drawn to trolls like moths to a flame. You can see it already in this
short thread.
None of you get it,not just the simple fact which can easily be
checked with a spinning globe as the rotating Earth covers 1699.8 km
per hour/15 degrees at the Equator and an entire equatorial
circumference of 40,075 km every 24 hours/360 degrees but that the
normal functions of your bodies are tuned to the daily rotation to the
Sun and it is close to impossible to consider rotation to anything
else.

You have disgraced yourselves before the history of timekeeping and
the discipline of astronomy which brought forth the 24 hour day and
its links to planetary geometry/geography organised around its
rotational characteristics and you think I am mad for proposing
something which is now so well known that it takes a distinctly feeble
mind to support the 'sidereal time' nonsense for daily rotation
through 360 degrees.
I once thought Galileo was exaggerating when he came across people
who ,not through their own fault, cannot change their mind or adapt
to historical or technical data pouring in on them -
" In the long run my observations have convinced me that some men,
reasoning preposterously, first establish some conclusion In their
minds which, either because of its being their own or because of their
having received it from some person who has their entire confidence,
impresses them so deeply that one finds it impossible ever to get it
out of their heads. Such arguments in support of their fixed idea as
they hit upon themselves or hear set forth by others, no matter how
simple and stupid these may be, gain their instant acceptance and
applause. On the other hand whatever is brought forward against it,
however ingenious and conclusive, they receive with disdain or with
hot rage--if indeed it does not make them ill. " Galileo
This is a human tragedy like no other yet is so simple to overturn as
a badge of intelligence and courage.
Burk says "...there are times when it seems a crime not to counter some
really nasty crap that flies though some times."
Burk, you fool! That nasty crap is only here because you are gullible
enough to reply.
Sam Wormley says "It appears to me that Kelleher is poorly educated in
mathematics and science and would benefit from some education. I really
do apologize for the "noise" that generates. But sometimes it's the
most interesting thing going on...
Sam, if Kelleher is the most interesting thing in your life, even for
an instant, _get_ _a_ _new_ _life_ ! Start a bottle-cap collection or
something. Furthermore, my assessment of Kelleher is that he is
probably a PhD astrophysicist, perhaps author of the "time" section in
the Navy's Astronomical Almanac, and he knows the length of the
sidereal day to roughly a femtosecond, but he has a weird thing about
getting peoples' goats. And he's very, very good at it. He isn't half
the fool that those who are trying to "educate" him are.
So, Mr. Nichols, you see that half the responses to your suggestion
that trolls not be fed (two of four at this time) are _justifications_
for being taken in by trolls. A valiant and worthy try from you,
nonetheless.
