You're not going to get very far calling our Moon a planet while dumping Pluto (or 2003 UB313, Sedna, etc). While our Moon is larger than Pluto
and certainly more massive (being more dense), so are several other
moons of the gas planets that would have to be let in.
I understand also that all of these objects are bound not only to the
Sun but to, uh, other planets. If we were to give any large moons
planetary status at all, they would have to be components of "multiple"
planets along with their respective parents.
