Which part of "fairly close" eluded you Jim?

a) Short GRBs are caused by a mechanism that needs
stars that are either very old or burnt very fast.

b) Most short GRBs occur very close to us.

Conclusion: Most distant stars cannot be old enough to
produce short GRBs.

Yet more evidence in favour of the Big Bang Jim, thanks
for bringing it to everyone's attention.
