No, it can't. The HR diagram assumes the burning of hydrogen to helium.
Brown dwarfs only burn deuterium.


The Hertzsprung-Russell (note spelling) diagram doesn't assume anything - it's just a plot of spectral class (or temperature) against luminosity.
I couldn't find a HRD with class L or T on it (I didn't look very hard !) so here's your chance to be first, perhaps :-)
