I would like to present an invention, an alternative to sailing.

Take four large half-cut ball pieces and empty the inside.
We only need the outer shells. Place these empty
half-balls and place them around a metal stick. The
shells are organized to go around in circle, meaning
the shell on the right might face toward us and the
shell on the left would face in the opposite direction,
away from us. The shells may be made of the same
fabric sailboats use to trap air, but the fabric needs
to be tightened into large half-ball positions. So this
way regardless which way the wind blows, these four
shells trap air and rotate. The rotation from capturing
wind this way can be transformed to propell a boat
at it's back forward with forward-rolling propellers.
Upon strong winds these shells would rotate very
fast and in turn would run large propellers with great
power at the end of the ship. Sincerely, inventor, x.y.

(I mean at the back of the ship.)

...no madam. The boat can be built for the madam, we
have arranged a delivery from China. A small version
where the rotating four half-ball-like windcatchers
are added to the top of a small royal lakeboat. There
is a handle to shield the balls from the wind when
desired, and like rails that open and close to the wind,
speed can be set with a handle that way. This sailboat
will not tilt from the wind, but works better when going
against wind...

2007-1650 years later...

wind copters were the most popular sport in the 20th century.
Competitions ran on water, on narrow wheels on land, people
sailed around the world both on water and on land with this
invention in the parallel history, and wind copters were also found
installed as energy makers in roof tops. Large ships use them in
larger
sized for making thousands of horsepowers. The generated
electricity is also used for producing water, heating water and
providing all electricity on boats, as well as storing electricity
in Lithium batteries and run electric motors. Saling is more
popular than ever.
