Looks like an interesting project, even more so with both Caltech and the
UKATC on board. The Caltech press release mentions CSO, of course, but
doesn't mention that CCAT will take over the "world's largest" title from
the 15-meter James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT) _right next to_ CSO -
which of course is run partly by the UKATC. :)
I've been more or less all over both CSO and JCMT (I work nearby) and
glancing at www.submm.org, I find myself thinking:
- Will CCAT use a Leighton dish, or non-segmented design?
- That's a big round hole in the dome, will there be Goretex involved? ;)
- Awwww, they designed it so only part of it spins around. :(
