Yes, that is rather funny. :-)
I suppose the nearest candidate would be Jupiter, but that would have
to be MUCH larger and certainly a sphere to the naked eye and of course
much brighter.
The imaginary Nemesis coming from beyond the planets like some sort
of comet would have been noticed long ago, the best candidate for that
would be Barnard's star.
