It could, but is it likely to?
It could pass very close to Mars and be perturbed to intersect
with another planet such as Earth or our Moon, too. But is it likely
to?
The possibilities are endless, the probabilities are small. You
have more chance of winning the lottery than anything spectacular
happening.
NASA's and ESA's bread and butter depends on keeping people
interested or else they'll spend their money on ball games and
cosmetics, the threat of asteroid collision has a greater impact on
the public than a possible fireworks shower they won't even
look up to see, so talk about that instead and get them excited.
