How many of the stars visible with the naked eye are in our milky way?
I think maybe they all are?
Ah, no. Our own Sun would become invisible to the naked eye at about 20-30
light years distance. I would imagine we'd be lucky to see 1% of them.
cheers
Bill
We see much less than 1% of the stars in our galaxy with the naked eye.
The number of stars in our galaxy is estimated to some 300 billion
stars. Of these we see only some 6000 stars with the naked eye - over
the whole sky (both hemispheres).
Therefore, our naked eyes can see only some 0.000002 % of the stars in
our galaxy.
