JE:
I will miss Dr John Wilkins viewpoint.
I once unsubscribed from sbe for similar
reasons (much to the relief of many sbe readers).
However, I discovered that what matters more than
the warm inner glow that comes from friendly agreement
is _passionate_ disagreement. Unfortunately, emotion
matters more than reason re: our motivation, i.e. we
remain animals fighting for our territory/status
despite pretensions to being civilised. In the
end all that matters is the testable theory that
provides the best fit. However, emotion remains
essential for providing the white heat that runs
the engine of imagination and reason.

All the best,
