Some animals can regenerate pefectly, even after losing whole limbs
(lizards, crabs), however the majority cannot. We don't really know the
reason why, but presumably it is so rare for an animal to lose a limb and
survive to reproduce again that there is not much selective pressure for it.
Scarring is an example of imperfect regeneration.
