What does "the most evolved" mean?

If all life is descended from a single common ancestor, then we've
all been evolving for the same amount of time, so you could say that
there is no "most evolved" species - we're all just as evolved as
each other.

Or you could say that since bacteria reproduce more quickly than
humans, they've lived for more generations than we have, and so
they should be considered to be "more evolved" than humans.

Or, since humans are AFAIK the only species to ask this kind of question,
maybe we are the "most evolved".

But without a clear definition, surely there can't be a clear answer.

I don't agree with this. It seems to me that competition (for food,
living space, mates etc) is a normal part of life, both between
species and within them.

Which creatures would you say "live in harmony"?
