I know hardly nothing about computers, HTML, JAVA, and the million other
things which make up the software, hardware, language, programs, etc. of
this incredibly complex multi-system. Dkomo is right, IE provides no
security. So how do you get at least some protection?

I have installed Adaware. Spybot, AVG, and Norton. Except for the last
all are excellent freeware programs I highly recommend. And I recommend
having two anti-virus programs. Believe it or not AVG works better than
Norton and its free!

To give you an example of how much *** flows in on your computer in
just a few days if you spend hours on it use the Adaware and it will
usually identify at least between 22-60 critical objects depending on
your surfing habits. The cute thing about Adaware is that when its
finished it makes a disgusting fart sound to let you know it has
finished.

I recently crashed my computer but it was my own fault. I got obsessed
downloading numerous freeware and even some paid applications. It
screwed my computer up.

But you have to take chances on Windows XP. I don't engage their
firewall because its too restrictive. I have free Zone Alarm which you
can adjust better.

The one "fucker" that I've in the past experienced is almost impossible
to get rid of is the Bull's Eye Network. Whoever developed that should
be tortured.

Almost anything you download that is freeware Microsoft will tell you
its potentially unsafe and do you trust the source.
