This group doesnt seem to deal in human evolution but here goes.
It seems probable that our ancestors-out-of Africa crossed from Africa into
the Yemen about 80,000 years ago. We are almost all descended from them. My
puzzle is that currently the artistic explosion that took place in Europe
(the CroMagnons) is dated around 30-40,000 years ago when the modern mind
appeared. But in Africa the Bushmen with their shamans and stories also seem
to have the same artistic mind. And they have been there forever.
So my question is must the artistic explosion have taken place more than
80,000 years ago and, if so, wouldnt it be more likely to have occured at
the mutation that produced us circa 160,000-193,000 years ago. I believe
there is debate over an item found in Africa around 90,000 years ago.
This seems a question I havent found discussed yet in the literature.
