To JAH: Thanks for realizing my error was in failing to slow down and
translate. The list DID, and does, apply to
BIOLOGY and EVO-BIOLOGY. I hoped and assumed some readers would make the
connections without having
them spelled out. With apologies, let me slow down and translate somewhat:

1. The sympathies of the masses are essential in the economic dynamic;
Translation: FACT -- BIOLOGY RESEARCH (such as stem cell research) and
BIO-EVOLUTIONARY RESEARCH are hamstrung in many instances as a direct
result of the fact that sympathies of all non-BIOLOGISTS (the set of ALL
non-biologists, hence 'masses') have little appreciation for their research
goals, and little appreciation of why those goals are important to all.
EVOLUTIONARY BIOLOGY is heavily reliant upon other formal specialties, and
not merely upon BIOLOGY in a vacuum, as it were. EVOLUTIONARY BIOLOGY is
attacked
on basis of false assumptions of fact and logically flawed rationales by
many who have positivistic agendas (including, but not limited to, political
agendaa, social agendas and agendas arising from some of the more-than-2,000
categories of religious persuasions. A few BIOLOGISTS and EVO-BIOLOGISTS
appreciate what was
learned to late in at the cutting edge of another formal area of science
research when the financial legs were chopped out from under the Waxahatchie
project. The Waxahatchie team's principals learned too late that their
failure was
a public relations failure. Once the project was under way, they assumed
funds would continue to be approved by
The Congress simply because the public (i.e. masses) and their duly elected
officials would not let so important a
ball as that be dropped in mid-flight. They did not cover all the public
relations bases and generate on-going demand, through skillful use of
techniques of persuasion. The result was one of the biggest setbacks to
science of the twentieth century;

2. The next forthcoming generation of scientists must come from somewhere;
Translation: FACT -- If BIOLOGISTS and EVO-BIOLOGISTS, working at the
cutting edge or research in their
fields (and that IN CONJUNCTION WITH input from findings in other formal
scientific disciplines) do not
include withing their scientific focus the indispensible art of public
persuasion, there are going to be more and more incursions made by zealous
social, political, and economic interest factions upon what goes into
textbooks. Anyone in any branch of science research, including BIOLOGICAL
RESEARCH and EVO-BIOLOGICAL research who is not aware of the amount of
pressure by some interests and entrenchments to force schools, periodicals,
publishers, broadcasters to cage scientific FACT in derogatory or
agenda-biased ways is, in a very real and present way, helping to assure
that more precocious kids are propagandized in such a way as to alienate
them against going into a given
field of research (one especially brutally under attack, anything even
remotely resembing anything even suggestive of any evolutionary realities).
To what extent those who nonetheless would go into a study of evolutionary
realities will have to unlearn biases with which they have been inculcated,
which serve to distort their ability to stand real BIOLOGICAL evidence on
its own feet and study it without bending all rationales to fit truisms...
remains to be evaluated. Having some friends who are teachers, and who tell
me in private how threatened they feel about making scientifically valid
statements on some things, I feel that the kids coming up the pipeline are
being brainwashed.
