Rest assured that your advice is well taken as to reading for comprehension.
You are quite correct that I have not read more than the popular periodical.
If I could afford it, there are at LEAST a dozen periodicals I would
subscribe to. Each costs well over $ 100 per year. (I could get the
digital
magazine version, only, of Science, for about $ 99, I think.)
I have talked with a physician friend who says he gets some of them sent to
his office for free, and I can have those (the only one I am sure I want is
JAMA), but I haven't gone to his office yet.
The wife of one of my friends is head knocker at the branch library near my
residence. I spoke with her at a wedding reception recently (briefly, as I
didn't want to talk shop there), and she said she has a limited budget, but
some discretions, and will consider how many readers might read an
advanced journal or two.
I have been planning to go to the nearby university library and see which
ones
they have, but I would have to do my reading there, could not mark in them,
and it would be expensive to photocopy from them.
Also, I may be able to go to the local medical school library and read some
of them but, once again, would not be allowed to check any out.
HEY ! Obviously you had reminded me of the fact I just need to make a
DO-LIST and get my ship together and check out all these possibilities.
THANK YOU !
