Re: Humans "unique" social

"Is human sociality really unique - - -"?

To understand the peculiar traits of language and cooperation one
must probe into the nature of a trait we lack ; estrus (heat) . We are,
by definition, an eutherian without estrus and this is the most
important - and least understood - aspect of our being.
There exists no published logical explanation for estrus . It is
"explained" as being part of the hormonally-induced fertility cycle yet
the intense sexual female behavior lacks the physiological explication
of, say, the release of the egg by the ovaries or something such as the
fear response to danger.
If the H.erectus mother gave birth to an "Eve" who lacked estrus,
then the window opened for traits denied to most other eutherians.
Removing estrus removes the most powerful aspect of female
eutherian reproductive behavior. Estrus pushed the female into coitis
with the male, unlike in other vertebrates where male courtship is
needed to induce reproduction.
As Darwin noted, humans are unlike most other eutherians because
we exhibit sexual selection by female choice. If women went into heat ,
as one sees in a cat or cow, they would mate with any proximate male.
Our Eve , through her female descendents, reverted to the innate
vertebrate mating behavior of requiring male courtship in order to
induce her to mate.
Such behavior as the use of vocalization, which developed, as it
does in birds, into a system for information transfer.
Occam's Razor is as valid in the evolution of Man as in any area
of science.
