There is an interesting article in PLoS Biology Dec 2004.
At least the title is interesting, and, I hope, correct:
Mathematics Is Biology's Next Microscope, Only Better;
Biology Is Mathematics' Next Physics, Only Better

While there, check out the PLoS publishing model. Interesting,
and quite possibly the wave of the future. Unreconstructed
Free Market believers like me think that he who benefits should
bear the cost. The PLoS model suggests that it is the author
who benefits from scientific publication, not the reader. There
is a grain of truth to this.
