If it has nothing to do with altruism, then how can
it "want" to promote its aa neighbours?

I think you made claims that a gene "wants" something
and "should" do something. All I said, I think, was
"if it wants" ... rather different from claiming that
a gene actually wants something. Anyway, no point
arguing over this sort of thing.
