A good example of this could be a teacher who is a nudist, and sincerely
believes that children whose parents take them to nudist colonies are
mentally healthier and more spiritually open than the children of parents
encumbered by unhealthy attitudes toward exposure of the human body. Is
that teacher, under a duty and an obligation to strip and offer all the
children an opportunity to touch his private parts, lest he default in
promoting their mental health and spiritual awakening? And, if that does
not suffice because of intercession by the narrow-minded parents, is he not
obligated to rescue those children and secret them off to his David Koresh,
or Jim Jones, or Rev. Moon? Surely he must not allow himself to default in
his fiduciary moral obligation, but must have the courage to act upon his
convictions.

No?

Why not?

Don't tell us the only sincere conviction that overrides the law is YOUR
sincere conviction.

Who is more sincere in his religious beliefs than one who would strap on a
bomb and trigger it among children of infidels in Iraq?

Would that justify his coming over here and blowing up a class with your
child in it?

Sincere convictions do not, by reason of how deeply or devoutly held,
manifest a divine mandate or bona fide social sanction.
