Someone posted on SBE about their ideas on variation in
life and where it might have come from. OOL
[moderator's note: I think the idea here, see, is to put "OOL"
in the subject line (this is usually done within square brackets,
thus: [OOL]). Makes it easy to pick out of the threads, see? I'll
go ahead and do that here. - JAH]
I think the answer is the simple one -
there is variation because life mimics the sun heat cycle.
The cyclical nature of the sun/heat cycle does the following:
1. It allows for varaition
2. because it cools then heats then cools then heats,
It prevents all cool - lock down to ice
it prevents all hot - burn up.
3. It forces a reaction that must allow for flexibility and
change - the key to evolution. If that flexibility is not there
life would be destroyed.
4. It allows for a predictable and constant stablility for any
chemical system to build on, even while retaining
a fluctuating range of temperature.
