"Evolutionary scam"

Dear S.B.E. Readers:

Obviously most on s.b.e. aren't scientists. However, somebody who was
aware of that took it upon themselves to email me spam-scam. It's
offensive because it mocks my intelligence. Furthermore, it is
unsolicited despite what so-called "Ruth M Graff" has to say. I never
subscribed to any mailing list other than s.b.e. Of course, its always
about a hustle. So-called "Ruth M. Graff" states, "But the
ramifications of evolution explained mathematically extend into many
intriquing areas of human interest including love, religion, politics
and whether mankind can avoid the nuclear extinction the escalating
strife in the world suggests might happen. Some of this is also on the
website, but as independent scientists we would prefer to have the bulk
of the human interest material published in a way that we can get paid
for it." Indeed, if you click on www.matrix-evolutions.com you will be
told of how this new mathematical equation can possibly forstall a
nuclear cataclysm and to donate money to the "information center" to
help prevent this.

What's hilarious is all the *** they've come up with to try to give
themselves an air of legitimacy. It would be hilarious if Mr. Edser
read it and came back deciphering it for us. Their scam might pay off.
All they need are dummies. Remember when Oral Roberts stated he would
be striked dead by God if he didn't get a million dollars. Well, some
old man in Florida coughed it up. Geez, I wish he had mailed me that
money. Hey, when you have a Bob Tilton televised nationally preying off
people's hopes and fears and on those downtrodden and poor that sends a
message ripping people off is okay.

Here is the garbage. It is so childish I think it is possible teenagers
are behind it.

[moderator's note: This does appear to be spam. I wonder why
Michael is the only one to get it -- I assume the authors of
this oddity trolled Google groups to get addresses of sbe
contributors, but I'm not sure about that. Anyone else get
it? I've checked out their web site, and it seems harmless
enough: a very long-winded derivation of the logistic equation,
and then they get weird. Puzzling that they'd send out email
like this. - JAH]

Dear Colleague,
We have come up with a mathematical formulation of Darwinian evolution
derived from the standard logistical equation for population growth
that is quite beautiful in the simple way that it clarifies natural
selection. A variable for evolutionary fitness in our equation for
evolution is sufficiently well-defined mathematically to provide for a
clear understanding of human emotion and the role it plays in
optimizing evolutionary success.

A preprint of our work received the following comments from Dr. Aaron
S. Posner, a biophysicist and former Director of the Research Division
of the Hospital for Special Surgery, Cornell Medical School, New York,
whose laboratory data provided an empirical proof for the equation of
evolution that we developed.

I have read and reread your email of 12/18/05 which elucidates your
life story since the 1970s. It is a miracle to me that, having gone
through such tough times, you have proved yourself to be a thoughtful
and productive scholar, as evidenced by your paper "On the evolution,
etc.".

I am flattered with your offer to make me a coauthor on the evolution
paper. I must decline with thanks for I am not qualified in the field
as you are. In addition the higher mathematics in the paper, in which
you are so proficient, is beyond me.

I wish that things go well for you and your coauthors with the
publication of your solid work.

Aaron

Interested scientists can log on to www.matrix-evolutions.com to read
the paper.

The Information Coalition
P.S. to publishers who are receiving this email. We have come up with
the first mathematical understanding of evolution since Darwin
published On the Origin 145 years ago. We are sure it will be accepted
by the scientific community, the mathematics is that simple, direct and
obvious. The core of this mathematical understanding of evolution is
available gratis on our website as it should be.

But the ramifications of evolution explained mathematically extend into
many intriquing areas of human interest including love, religion,
politics and whether mankind can avoid the nuclear extinction the
escalating strife in the world suggests might happen. Some of this is
also on the website, but as independent scientists we would prefer to
have the bulk of the human interest material published in a way that we
can get paid for it.

Parties interested in publishing our mathematical treatise on evolution
and its understanding of where the human race is heading should contact
us at informationcoalition@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
