Re: "Evolutionary scam"

Josh writes, "I've checked out their web site, and it seems harmless
enough: a very long-winded derivation of the logistic equation, and
then they get weird." That's an understatement. They are very "weird".
I don't think it is coincidental they are soliciting for money right
away. Not only is this spam but IMO a scam. For example on the website
it states, "Those who wish to help us in our efforts to forestall
nuclear war, see Section 7, can send a donation to us at: Peter
Calabria, P.O. Box 3035, Albany, NY, 12203. Donors of $50 or more will
be noted on the website as Contributing Members of The Information
Coalition unless otherwise requested." It's also possible as well as
being a spam-scam this is a mini-cult. No credentials or educational
history are cited for any of these people. They want publishers to
donate money for their "human interest content" but apparently nothing
for their amazing new mathematical equation of Darwinian evolution. I
don't think these folks are necessarily totally harmless. Through their
"personal stories" and disorganized philosophy they seek to establish a
connection with the rage and despair of readers and link it with their
so-called mathematical equation on Darwinian evolution. This individual
or group is irrational and
predatory.

I don't know why I was emailed it.
