RE: Neanderthal vs. Cro-Magnon Hypothesis



...I subsequently found that the author Jared Diamond has
already traveled much of the road I was on with the Neanderthal vs.
Cro-Magnon hypothesis. It would be nice to think "great minds" think
alike.

Diamond's investigation into why those of European decent have so much more
"cargo" (as an African was reported to have put it to him), i.e. more
artifacts and services and therefore a much higher materialistic standard of
living allowing less children of European decent to die before reaching
fertile adulthood than those of African decent, IMO remains biased by
Diamond's political left ideology. Those of European decent developed
mutualised exchange (trade) between individuals within _enormously larger_
groupings than those of African decent. Trade was and remains, even today, a
politically incorrect term for the Looney Left (and right). Can anybody find
any reference to trade in Diamond's highly prized book? Can anybody find a
reference to trade anywhere within evolutionary theory?

It is just a basic tenet of economics that whenever you double the size of a
trading group the absolute gains, i.e. total gains per individual increases
much more than just a doubling of it. Note also that the relative
differences between individuals i.e. the difference of compared individual
total gains, also greatly increases producing the political spin of greed Vs
envy which dominates today. The simple fact of the matter is those of
European decent broke away from the _psychological_ restriction imposed by
tiny tribal boundaries long before those of African decent. This allowed a
geometric increase in traded artifacts and services for the Europeans.
European city states had to be fused into nations to make this happen. The
cost that the Europeans had to pay in blood and gore was enormous.

The irony is the _psychological requirements_ of the incredibly successful
tribal adaptation pioneered by Crow Magnon which allowed that form of homo
sapiens to colonize just about any environment on this planet because of
mutualised exchange within each tribe is now just a milestone around our
necks. The problem is not one of racially based "intelligence" Vs
"unintelligence" as the Looney Right continues to argue, it is a problem of
the evolution and application of theory Vs tribally based belief. The power
of almost any tribal belief to destroy a reasoned theory lies at the heart
of the problem of continued third world poverty. Expanding a trading group
to become so much larger than the average Crow Magnon tribe, with the added
condition that it must remain stable is a very difficult and tricky
business. This is because tribally based belief systems can force the
implosion of these artificially expanded groups so that they fractionate
back into self exclusive tribal units destroying hard won mutualised gains.
Those of European decent have two world wars in their history as a vivid
testimony as to the cost of maintaining super tribes within a tribal species
like our own. We have yet to discover a way of making super tribes stable
because we do not understand the tribal psychology which dominates our
species.
