All what can be found on the Internet? Might be true, but damned if
it's easier to find.
I'm looking for information on the Hox genes. You know, the ones
that determine where things go and how they develop in a critter.
I'm specifically looking for information regarding which Hox gene
or genes determine where limbs go and how they develop. So if you
have leads on limb development, the evolution of limb development,
and which genes govern limb development the information would be
much appreciated.
Wikipedia is a surprisingly good place to find scientific information
on almost any subject nowadays, particularly so given its spontaneous
generation nature, directed by a bunch of intelligent design agents:

I looked there. A good general introduction to the Hox genes, but
nothing on which genes do what. What I need to know is which Hox gene
or genes govern embryonic limb development.
I don't know that you will find that in a single source, especially as it
seems that different switches control Hox gene expression in limb
development in different species. You may have to resort to
scholar.google.com, and hope you can find articles that don't require a
subscription.
"Endless Forms Most Beautiful", which sold fairly well and should be
available in most good bookstores and bigger libraries, will give you a
good introduction and might get you into the right references to pursue
the subject further.
