Hello from Spain,

I've written a post about the Neanderthals that are in all of us, and
if you ever get to read it, I would beg for your invaluable opinion.

I'm confused by that statement, in light of evidence that shows that
the DNA profiles of Cro-magnon and Neanderthal were distinct and not
combined.

Is this a whimsical approach more than a scientific one perhaps?

Have they done anything on sequencing Cro-magnons? I thought the
problems of contamination were too great. And, is the DNA mtDNA? If
so, it means nothing that the mtDNA is different. That becomes
extinct quite readily if a small population combines with a larger one,
whether the nuclear DNA survives or not.
In fact, they just announced plans to sequence the whole HN genome,
so it must be mtDNA.
