Dyson seems to overlook the fact that our race is as much a part of
nature as are expliding volcanoes and meteorites the do major damage.
Collectively, we are a force of nature.
If our cleverness could preclude unintended side effects I might be
inclined to agree with Dyson. But the unintended consequences of our
tinkering with nature is just as quirky and unpredictable as the
explosions and errupts of volcanoes. See for example the Gypsy Moth and
the African Killer Bee.
