You need to learn something about biology before you try to apply your
physicist's intuitions to the subject. You will no doubt learn that
biology is far more difficult and almost as sophisticated mathematically.

I am a physicist, and I agree with you concerning biological
systems I think the original poster who brought up this issue has a
pure mathematical background. Although both physicists and
mathematicians use probability theory, I think that most physicists
are more careful concerning the event space to which they apply the
probability theory. For example, I don't think that evolving to fit
the oceans or evolving to fit the continents are really mutually
independent events.
