No Sex Please, We're Neandertals

COLD SPRING HARBOR, NEW YORK--Did Neandertals and modern humans
interbreed? A paper presented last week at the Biology of Genomes
meeting here gives the evidence a strong shove in the direction of
the no-sex camp.

If someone with access to the Pennisi article (or, better yet, the CSH
paper) would post a summary here, I'm sure it would be appreciated.
That seems too unbelievable to be true.
That is like suggesting today, that white people would not have sex
with black people.
They may have mated, but that is not a guarantee that they would produce
viable offspring, or, if they did, that those offspring would themselves
be fertile (c/f mules).
