Re: Animation on Central Dogma

The intended meaning of my message was that genetic engineers
are quite capable of transmitting detailed sequence information
from protein back to gene. Such reverse engineering is sometimes
needed when the associated DNA sequence is deliberately kept secret.

But genetic engineering employs an "in vivo" virus. To my knowledge, no
virus exists which can_reverse_ genetic code, i.e. can deploy a polypeptide
which can act as a template in order to re-establish the DNA/RNA sequence
which would normally code for it. The only empirically reversible bit is
between DNA <-> RNA, i.e. not between DNA/RNA -> polypeptide. Also, and
again just to my knowledge, not even an artificial "in vitro" enzyme system
exists which can perform this specific act of reverse genetic coding where
only this can refute the revised central dogma (because it remains the only
observation prohibited by it). Myself and other sbe reader's eagerly await
any response from Tim Tyler et al where they provide a verification of this
prohibited form of reverse genetic coding.
