What the point? Creatures sleep when they stand little
to no chance of finding food or sexual partner. Being active
requires energy/food. Sleep conserves resources, that's all.
Once you are not hungry, there is little point of being active.

Sleep conservers resources is a part of it, but why not just be
inactive,
and awake and alert to danger. No there is more to sleep than just
that.
