Symbiosis

For me, evolutional ideas stress fight and flight too much. More and
more that is not the evolutionary goal. More and more it is symbiosis.
The power of symbiosis in evolution rivals the fight and flight
strategy and IMO is more important. Lynn Margulis is notable for
having made some important discoveries in this area.
Lichens for example , through symbiotic strategies have added other
dimensions to evolution by enlarging its forms and occupying distinct
environmental niches. Bacteria have intercell gene transfer - " The
know-how of one system can be shuttled back and forth between separate
species." And IMO it is the social bonds, mostly between the mother
and child, that have led to the evolution of human achievement. We are
here, with what we have, mostly from symbiotic partnerships, not from
wars. Biomes are environments of inter relatied species. Gaia is a
type of planetary symbiosis and is worthy of study.
Symbiosis should be given its rightful spot in evolutionary theory.
