Steroids and the remarkable Russell Marker. Gerrans, G. C.
Spectrum (Pretoria) (1997), 35(1), 4-6.

Early history of steroid chemistry in Mexico: the story of three remarkable
men. Lehmann F., Pedro A. Steroids (1992), 57(8), 403-8.

Russell E. Marker. Pioneer of the Mexican steroid industry. Lehmann
Feitler, Pedro A.; Bolivar G., Antonio; Quintero R., Rodolfo. Journal of
Chemical Education (1973), 50(3), 195-9.

In addition, many books that discuss The Pill often mention Russell Marker
in varying biographical detail. A recent offering: Napoleon's Buttons: 17
Molecules That Changed the World http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/
1585423319/qid=1090951719/sr=2-2/ref=sr_2_2/002-9886909-1065651
has some stuff about Marker.

Some of the Djerassi's own books have info about Marker.
See also "The Pill" by Asbell.

I recall that C&EN had an article about him when he received some ACS
award even tho' he had been out of chemistry for many years. It had pictures
of him and his wife. He died in 1995, so it must be pre-'95.

There's an Oral History / Interview with Marker (from 1987) at Chem Heritage
Foundation:
http://www.chemheritage.org/exhibits/ex-oral-detail.asp?ID=68&Numb=128

I don't know of any dedicated monograph / bio of Marker.
