The lambda(max) and epsilon shift with concentration (dimer
formation), pH; and presence of other species, membranes, and micelles
that participate in non-bonded interactions (re cornflower blue and
caffeic acid). The only way to really know is to measure it in your
system with your indicator (that is *never* pure and varies from lot
to lot).
