Years ago, some guy was posting on the bionet.* groups about
immortality. Basically, he established a point-by-point list of random
facts, leading to the conclusion that trees are effectively immortal.
They are, a sawed off stump will resprout from the inner bark. Then he
applied it to humans, using stem cells, but only for women and only
using their own oocytes. Don't know what his point was really --
mysongyny, overcrowding, conspiracy theorys? Take your pick.
A google-groups search would be a nice project for you. Anything to
get you out of the usenet's cloaca.
