My personal choice would be to pick a respected small institution that
does NOT have a graduate school ... If you are talented ... you have a
better chance of acting like a graduate student i.e. doing research and
taking graduate level courses ... This allows you to 1) find an
interest and a Professor with the same interest the day you start grad
school ... You can get your doctorate then in 3-3 1/2 years instead of
the 5 or so that those who spend the first year or two farting around
...
