Education Advise--Degree Options In Chemistry (NOT Chemical Engineering)

I am at present a Bach. of nursing student ready to start my clinical
studies. I am a high straight A student (I normally keep a 100% GPA).

My chemistry Prof. thinks that I should consider chemistry as a major.
I have great respect for my teacher ( he has taught at Notre Dame,
Stanford, Princeton, and Tulane).

But I would like some input as to career oportunities in this field for
a Bach. of Chemistry.

Nursing pays extremely well--but it is a stepping stone to teach a hard
science at the University level.
