Energy released when something changes from gas to liquid...

You know how you can feel the energy added to a boiling pot of water as
it changes from a liquid phase to a gas phase? Or like when you stick
your hand in a freezer and feel the energy from the atmosphere added in
your hand as it becomes cooler. Can anybody think of an example in
which it works the other way around? The challenge is that you have to
be able to feel the energy being released as it changes phases. All I
can think of is when air passes over mountains and causes turbulence as
it flows above the air on the other side. I need something that most
people would be more familiar with.

Thanks,
Van
