Good question, I must have typed the equation wrong. I don't currently
have my book with me (I'm at work right now) so I can't double check
it.

I remember certainly that the equation didn't involve chlorine/de. I
asked my teacher about that but she couldn't answer it.

I understand that because of spontanaity and kinetics, not all
equations happen. But this happens to be a typo version of what my book
had.

My book may have been dumbing it down--this is just a Chem 1 college
textbook (Zumdahl 5th ed).

I'm looking online now, and I'm finding several different
equations--some involving the Cl, some of them not...
