Hey Y.Porat.
Your explanation of bond distances is very ugly and not according with
the accepted theory.
A triple bond CC is shorter than a double bond CC because in the triple
bond the hybridation of the carbon atom is sp, and this orbital has a
great s caracter. The fact that the s orbital is shorter than p is the
issue behind this. In the double bond the hybridation is sp2 and the s
caracter is much less (30%) than in the triple bond.
Beside this, the carbon atom has a teoretical tetrahedrom fashion in
the hybridization sp3.
Beside this (2), Bob have the right answer. In the initial question,
the autor is matching cats with dogs.
