Looking for good classroom experiment 5-7 ingredients, non-toxic

Posting looking for any ideas or suggestions; We are going to have a multi-
session training class with the theme of "cooking" (following a recipe,
like following a policy or procedure). To make things more interactive, we
want to use something tangible that the people can take with them from
session to session, culminating in actually "following" the recipe at the
end of the day. Real food isn't an option because we won't have access to
stoves or ovens in our training rooms, plus we won't have a lot of time to
really cook something.

So, my next thought was some sort of multi-chemical reaction, like the
slime kits for kids, only something with more ingredients (5-7 would be
ideal). From my own childhood I remember chemistry experiments to change
colors of the mix, change the viscosity, luminescence, etc. and I'm looking
for something similar- with a few caveats-

1. the ideal experiment (recipe) would require the ingredients to be
processed (mixed, shaken, stirred, whatever) in a particular order; mix in
the wrong order and you don't get the target outcome (color, viscosity, or
some other key feature)

2. Should work at room temperature, since we don't currently have a way to
heat anything up. Even if we bought individual burners, we may not have
time to sit there and heat stuff up.

3. Non toxic- just in case anyone spills their ingredients on themselves,
we don't want anything that will cause harm, Ingredients do _not_ have to
be edible, I'm more worried about things like strong acids or bases.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated, including any website links
with the actual instructions for assembly (e.g. the recipe)

Thanks,
Keith
