I'd heard that the zinc used for galvanizing is not really purified
free of traces of cadmium, which is a lot more toxic than zinc. It's a
typical rule of thumb never to eat something cooked in galvanized
metal. Besides, you've melted the zinc caoting off, so now its plain
old steel, which will soon rust. If you're resigned to that, why not
start with steel to begin with.
